“FOUR families displaced by the war in Syria have arrived in Colchester.
The families, who were in refugees camps, have been helped to find accommodation in the private sector.
Tina Bourne, portfolio holder for housing and public protection for Colchester Council, said: “I am extremely proud Colchester has led the way in offering proactive assistance on this important issue.
“Our town has an extensive history of supporting displaced groups following persecution so I am pleased we have been able to help the Syrian refugees in their time of need.”
A fifth family is due to arrive in Colchester early next year.”
